What Style of yoga do you do?
Traveling Yogi, LLC teaches Hatha-based alignment yoga. This type of practice is based off of the Hatha yoga teachings of B.K.S Iyengar. More attention is placed on the correct position of the body in each pose to ensure that the body is safe and in proper alignment. This is different from other styles of yoga, such as Vinyasa flow, which moves much faster than Hatha-based alignment classes. While there is some breath-to-movement, students attending a Traveling Yogi class can also anticipate slightly longer holds in certain poses to achieve proper alignment and the full benefits of the pose. Some breathing techniques are also taught during Traveling Yogi classes.
Common poses in our classes include balasana (child’s pose), bharmanasana (table top pose), tadasana (mountain pose), adho mukha svanasana (downward facing dog), virabhadrasana I, II, and III, vrksasana (tree pose), among many others.
