Yoga Class Etiquette
This is an important section to read before attending your first yoga class. There are certain expectations for yoga students in a class.
No judgment. In yoga, there is no room for putting others down, including yourself. Only words of encouragement and positivity are welcome in the yoga space.
Do not bring your phone and other electronic devices into the yoga space. Use the class time as an excuse to disconnect from the outside world.
No shoes in the yoga room. Please leave your shoes at the door. This helps ensure that mats stay clean. Once the practice has started, socks should also be off to reduce the risk of slipping and falling during standing poses.
Stay on your mat. Whether or not you are using one of Traveling Yogi’s mats or bringing your own, that mat is yours for the duration of the class. Do not walk across your neighbor’s mat.
No food or chewing gum during class.
Drink plenty of water. Bring a water bottle to class to stay hydrated throughout, or be sure to hydrate right after class.
No strong scented perfumes, lotions, or body sprays. Strong odors in a yoga space can disrupt others who are sensitive to certain smells.
Have fun! While yoga is a form of physical activity, it is also a form of stress relief. Enjoy this opportunity to move, breathe, and relax!
